My sister told me that she needed a play table for her daughter, our Wee E. Shane immediately started scheming, taking apart my sister's statement and trying to figure out what she might like. Fortunately, my sister's statement was pretty informational, so it wasn't too difficult. She had pointed out some bucket shelves at IKEA, and had mentioned that she liked the bright green ones best. That was the easiest part...I picked up a pair and we were off!
Shane took the two bucket shelves I found at IKEA and incorporated them into a brilliant table that our niece can use for storage and play. Shane designed the whole table, he built and painted it, and I added the three apples (mentioned in this post). There was a great deal of trial and error involved, and lots of ideas that were attempted and thrown out, but eventually the kinks were worked out. The table went over well with my sister. She was both delighted and surprised that we took her casual mention into a gift. Once my mother put some toys in the storage area, Wee E was all about the table! This table needs some chairs too, doesn't it?! The work of an uncle never ends...
