I'm so excited. So excited. The Painted Hammer is a long-awaited project for me. My husband and his sister have been dancing around this arrangement for years. Audrey has been a creative spirit her entire life. In the close to 20 years that I have known her, she has been artist, designer, painter and creator and has done these things in so many different ways for so many different people. Once she became a mom, she started thinking of things she wanted her children to have and started soliciting help from my husband. First it was a bookshelf. Then it was a set of wooden blocks. A play kitchen was mentioned and then built. And so on.
I love watching them work together. Shane wants to make these things that Audrey imagines, because he knows they're going to be used and loved by his nephew and niece. Sometimes she has a detailed design sketched out on paper. Sometimes she mentions something offhand, and he surprises her with the finished product. It isn't remotely close to the process he and I go through together when we decide he is going to create something for our home. I mean, he makes cool stuff for our home, but somehow the stuff Shane does for his sister is easy, patient, and flows so naturally.
So back to the project. Shane & Audrey are a good team. Audrey has vision and ideas. Shane has the ability to turn many of those gorgeous thoughts into tangible items. Why not get together and share those things with others?
Here are some things Audrey & Shane have already worked on together. Consider this a sneak peek, enjoy!
